Residents can appeal their Cook County property taxes with the Board of Review at the Township of Schaumburg now through January 25, 2023. The Township is open during the appeals period to assist residents Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 – 5pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 – 6:30pm. The Township has two options for appeals:

1. Email Victor Morales at vmorales@schaumburgtownship.org your home property index number (pin), phone number, email and home address. This is the fastest and most convenient way – no visit to the office is required. Emails must be received at least one hour before closing on the last day of appeals .
2. Walk-in appointments are also available but emailing your appeal information is strongly encouraged. You’ll need to bring your pin, phone number, email and home address.

“Residents can expect fast and easy service with the Township Assessor’s Office – especially with the email appeal option,” said Township of Schaumburg Assessor John R. Lawson. “A common misconception is you can only appeal once during a tax year. However even if you received a successful appeal this fall with the Cook County Assessor’s Office, you can still appeal with the Board of Review.”

A free appeals seminar will be held at the Township (One Illinois Blvd, Hoffman Estates IL 60169) on January 19 at 6pm. Learn about the tax appeal process and how to appeal. There will be a quick presentation and Q&A. Participants should bring their second installment property tax bill or their pin. The event will be hosted by Township of Schaumburg Assessor John R. Lawson and Cook County Board of Review Commissioner George Cardenas, along with Cook County Commissioners Kevin Morrison and Sean Morrison, State Senator Laura Murphy, State Representatives Fred Crespo and Michelle Mussman and Township Supervisor Timothy Heneghan.
