Veteran Services Officer Shynae Murphy is available for walk-in service at the Township of Schaumburg. Township Veteran service is open to all veterans and their families to assist in understanding and applying for qualified benefits. VSO Shynae Murphy can also assist veterans with copies of discharge papers, providing information on disability compensation, burial benefits and allowances, and much more. In a case where she cannot help, a referral can be made to a source that may help the veteran.

Veterans Coffee and Conversation

Please join us every 3rd Thursday of the month from 9 to 10:30 am to make friends, get advice, or just enjoy a cup of coffee with fellow veterans. Veterans and their families and allies are invited to connect over coffee in a casual and friendly atmosphere.

Military and Veterans Discount Card

Cook County Clerk’s Office is now offering the Cook County Military and Veterans Discount Card via mail.

To register by mail, the following is required to be completed:

The online registration allows active-duty personnel, veterans, guard members and reservists to register from the comfort of their home. This new service helps protect the veterans and service members and eliminates any issues or concerns they may have relating to COVID-19. It provides veterans and active duty military with a free money-saving discount card and access to a diverse network of over 200 businesses that are committed to providing discounts.

Veteran Care

The National Center of Excellence for Veterans and their Families at Rush University Medical Center offers The Road Home Program.

This is a free service which offers mental healthcare services for Veterans, Active-Duty Members, National Guard, Reservist and family members struggling with the invisible wounds of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), military sexual trauma (MST) and related conditions. They offer many options for their programs, including online visits.
