The Township of Schaumburg Board of Elected Officials to put Road & Bridge District Abolishment on November Ballot

The Schaumburg Township Board of Trustees voted to add a proposition to the November 3, 2026, general election ballot asking voters if the Township Road & Bridge District should be abolished.

The Township Road & Bridge District is responsible for less than 10 miles of unincorporated roads.

If the voters pass the proposition, the Schaumburg Township Road & Bridge District will be abolished, along with the elected position of Township Highway commissioner effective May 19, 2029, and all Road District rights, powers, duties, assets, property, liabilities, obligations and responsibilities will be assumed by the Township.

If voters choose to not pass the proposition, Township Road District operations will remain the same.
